I recently saw this sign on a house down the street - it says "Had triplets!!! House for Sale. (Yes, it's hard to read, I think I should give up my dream of being a photographer.) First it caught my attention, then it made me laugh, then I started thinking ‘what a great marketing tactic.’
There are 938 3 bdr 2 bath houses for sale in our town of 200,000. But more people are interested in this house than the other 937. People perceive there is something different and when I talked with the seller, he was extremely pleased with the number of steady calls and showings he has had in the short time since he put the sign up.
It’s called a hook. Something that will set you apart from other lenders out there. Consumers are overloaded with choices today and are looking for a reason to pick you! It may be your product niche (if you already have one – make sure you are marketing your expertise.) It may be your level of service and commitment to working on referrals. It may be that you have triplets and need to feed them. Whatever you can find that sets you apart is your 'hook'. Use it to sell you.
Find your hook and start a marketing campaign around it. Give people a reason to call you and get their loan started!
