Send someone a personal note today
Consider me old-fashioned... but I like to send handwritten notes. With the ease and popularity of email, IM and text messaging, this classic way of reconnecting is often not utilized. Yet a personal note says a lot about what's important to you. Remember - this is a relationship based business and everything you can do to strenghten your relationships will help you build a stronger business.
Here's a challenge for you: Send five handwritten notes each week. One a day or all five on Friday - whatever works for you.
A thank you note for a referral or to a client after closing. Congratulations note to a top-producing Realtor. Just checking in note to someone that is still house hunting or trying to sell their home. I care note to someone that has been struggling. Nice to meet you note to follow up after a networking event.
I was recently talking with James Sly, an originator in Salt Lake City, UT and was impressed with his dedication to this. He writes 3 handwritten cards each day and spends one hour each day calling his data base. This has been tremendously productive and exactly what every loan officer should be doing. Look for opportunities to send someone a personal note today.

I have been sending personal notes for years and often get thanked by the recipient for the nice touch. I truly believe that I receive referrals because of this practice.
