I recently heard that greeting cards have a much higher "open" rate than regular #10 size envelopes. I'm sure this is because we all have memories of the birthday cards Uncle Joe used to send with a few dollars each year. There is just something a little more personal about a greeting card.
The card definitely brightened my day and will long be remembered. Print on demand programs such as Velma or Send Out Cards are a great way to get personal with clients using technology. I also received another card recently (I must have misplaced it, so I can't show a photo) that had 4 business people on the front holding a large sign that said "Bliss Rocks". The inside was a simple thank you note. Huge impact.
The best part is that it is so simple to add a photo or image with print on demand systems. Much better than using generic thank you or note cards. I also love that I don't have to go to the store to find the right card and since I am usually out of stamps, print on demand is perfect for me.
I realize that I've done two posts in the last two weeks on writing personal notes... but hey, it's important! Who have you written to today?

Bliss, I subscribe to your newsletter and am a big fan of your blog. Thanks!

I just barely started using the print on demand feature of Velma and people love it. I've had some great comments from the Realtors and clients I have sent something to. My daily marketing now includes sending out at least one card.

I agree nothing makes a person feel warm and fuzzy like greeting cards.
You will be surprised to know that you can send a printed greeting card from your computer to the United States from Australia for 62 cents plus stamp. The greeting cards are printed in each county over night and put into the mail, or as they say in Australia, put into the post the very next day. Send Out Cards just started printing greeting cards in Australia a few months ago. You can try the system absolutely free by visiting http://www.SendFreePostcard.com – You can send a printed holiday greeting card from Australia to America and it will arrive in 3 to 4 business days for 62 cents.
