Today President Obama signed a bill to extend the tax credit for first time homebuyer through June 30, 2010. The exciting part is that the new bill offers the credit to current homeowners as well.
This is a great opportunity for you to be a resource to your sphere of influence. Learn as much as you can about the details (see NAR article) and then get out there and start talking. Here are some marketing ideas for you:
- Send an email out to your ENTIRE database. I'm sure the Realtors have already heard about it, but you are letting them know that you are aware and knowledgeable.
- Call a few of your top Realtors and see if they want to put on a seminar about this. Don't hesitate on this one... the early bird gets the worm!
- Send out a postcard to your database explaining the extension and changes.
- Call all of your prospects that are still looking for a home. Get them excited to find a house.
- Send an email to your prospects giving them the details... especially if they are current homeowners and would fit into the new category.
- Talk to anyone and everyone!

I called all my prospects yesterday before I left the office with the great news! I also emailed their Realtors to let them know I had contacted them. The most exciting one was the guy who had just sold his home after living in it for 5 years and ONE month. He was so excited and grateful I had calle dto tell him he was eligible for the new tax credit. I like being the hero!

Great blog info! Did you know the new home can be up to 4 units if one owner occupied and you do not have to sell your current home, it can be rental. I sent an email to my referal partner database annoucing the new law.
