I was talking with a builder last week... he builds quite a few custom homes each year and has been able to weather the storm our industry has gone through. We were talking about marketing and I asked if he hears from mortgage people very often. He said that back at the peak of the market he was being invited to lunch about twice a week. Since the crash he said he hears from someone maybe twice a month.
Right now there is an opportunity for you to build strong referral relationships with builders, Realtors and other referral partners. Go to their events, stop by the homes they are building and take them to lunch. Be positive and look for ways to help their business. You may just find you are the only one doing this.
